Abstract(in English) A new concept "digital-control microwave signal processing" is proposed. Signal processing is done in the microwave frequency range, while the processing is controlled by digital means. A proof-of-concept satellite onboard beamforming network is deigned and fabricated. A prototype beamforming network for exciting 64-beam 32-element phased array is integrated in a volume of 2600 cc. It features the beamforming and steering architecture which controls amplitude and phase of each radiator. It employs wafer-scale MMICs, 32 x 64 3-D cross interconnection, and 2-mm pitch very fine coaxial jacks and plugs. By using a computer controlled network analyzer and variable voltage supplies, BFN amplitude and phase are accurately adjusted with residual enor of 0.04 dB and 0.33 degrees r.m.s. for the 32 output ports. Since the developed BFN is digital control but does not require high-speed DACs, it will be a potential candidate for adaptive/intelligent antennas as well as satellite onboard phased array transponders.
