Estimates of perceived sizes of targets presented stereoscopically

Abstract(in English) We examined size perception of targets (toys called "Barney") presented stereoscopically while manipulating display size, target size, viewing distance, camera convergence distance, viewing distance, disparity information and the scene. It was found that display and target size had a significant effect on perceived size ; disparity and scene background had a small effect ; viewing distance and camera convergence distance had a little effect. Furthermore, the range of estimates of perceived size (i.e. the difference between the maximum estimate and the minimum estimate) was reduced compared to those of the actual target.
