| Abstract(in English) | When seeing specific figures such as the Kanizsa triangles, we perceive subjective contours that do not exist physically, together with subjective figures, and, furthermore, we perceive overlaps among the figures : some figures are comprised of subjective figures, and others are of both physical and subjective figures. The former are called modal completion, and the latter amodal completion. To explain such kind of human illusory vision, the authors propose a multi-stage bottom-up model. In the 1st stage, subjective contours are created from input images together with physical contours. In the 2nd stage, perceptual figure elements are created from the contours. In the 3rd stage, hypotheses of 3-D multi-layered structures are created. In the 4th stage, a hypothesis to occur most possibly is selected based on the probabilities of occurrence of the hypotheses. In this technical report, the authors propose the multi-stage bottom-up model, and, especially, quantitatively examine the 4th stage with psychophysical experiments and simulations. |
