Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In this research we made a comparison of the upper and lower visual fields for the perception of visually induced self-motion (vection). An anisotropy was found that motion in the upper visual field induced more intense perception of self-motion than that in the lower visual field, when both visual fields were simultaneously stimulated by random-dots moving in opposite directions. This predominance of the upper visual field was diminished when moving random-dots were presented either in the upper or lower visual field alone. Possible account for the results was discussed in view of inhomogeneity in vection-inducing potentialities and foreground-background effect. |
