Abstract(in English) | This paper presents a technique of analyzing the degree of movement in facial parts during expressions using range and intensity information. Pre-determined facial actions are measured by a rangefinder system called 'Cubicfacer' which produces dense 3D and color texture images of a measuring subject. A topological face mesh is constructed and adapted to the measured range data using the information in the corresponding color image. The mesh adaptation process is done iteratively by approximating a polynomial function with the least squares estimation. Patch variances of sub-meshes are then computed to analyze the movements of different facial parts. The experiment is done for apparent normal and disordered human subjects to determine the differences in facial movements. |
