Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a depth estimation algorithm for multi-ocular image systems. Based on the algorithm, images can be synthesized for any intermediate viewpoint for smooth motion parallax in multi-view systems. The proposed block matching algorithm, which is using a new multi-ocular matching cost as well as epipolar constrains, provides robust depth estimation. Furthermore, integration of multi-ocular depth maps is introduced to improve the represented image quality on intermediate viewpoints. An experimental system was implemented for acquisition of multi-ocular images and for representation of intermediate viewpoint image with a head-tracking sensor.
