Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Our project has been researching and developing an image space mainly based on photo-realistic texture, that can be shared by people in different locations and can lends a real sense of presence. This paper proposes a technique to generate virtual views of a natural panorama scene. The scene is captured by an original 3-camera system. The images are stitched into a stereo panorama and the depth is estimated. The (texture) panorama is segmented into regions, each of which can be regarded to be approximated as a plane. The plane parameter set of each region is estimated depending on the depth data (setting representation). According to the representation the virtual views are calculated for center panorama, and left and right panoramas are used for occlusion compensation.
