Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A series of trial distance education classes were held between Mie Prefectural College of Nursing and Iwate Prefectural University using high definition, real time, video conferencing over a high speed ATM network(Japan Gigabit Network). In this study, we compare the features of DV conferencing and the MEPG2 video compression technologies, and try to determine the requirements in the technological learning environment for various topics and instructional methods in the fields of medicine and health care. Medical images should be reproduced in high quality and in true color. Low latency is desirable for practical exercises.
