Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Multimedia Virtual Laboratory is a concept that proposes a new style of research communication and collaboration among remote researchrs. In the concept, distant laboratories are connected by high band width network and share resources such as high performance computers and high cost equipment. To actualize the MVL concept, we develp the technology to share high quality virtual space using by high band width networks. In this paper, we describe the element technologies to compose shared virtual space and shows two applications, video avatar and haptic collaboration, working on JGN (Japan Gigabit Network) and IPTs. Finally, We show future plans of our research.
