Knowledge-Based Object Extraction Algorithm for General Video Scenes

Abstract(in English) In order to improve the efficiency of object-based video encoding, we propose a scene adaptive object extraction algorithm that utilizes knowledge on relationship between scenic features and bitrate of each object extraction method. The algorithm selects the most appropriate object extraction method that yields the lowest bitrate from several different ones depending on the features of the video scene. Experiments showed that both of Bayesian approach and linear one are effective in reducing bitrates for various scenes.
