Abstract(in English) A real-time software Transcoder for MPEG-2 named "Trampeg" enables to transcode the MPEG-2 contents to lower-rate compressed bitstreams in high-quality. In Trampeg, for reducing the cost of motion estimation, motion vectors in MPEG-2 stream are re-used to calculate new vectors for re-encoding. However, as frame size and frame rate of the lower-rate images are different from those of MPEG-2, motion vectors has to be resized. In this paper, motion vector tracking algorithm in P-frame dropping and motion vector estimating algorithm in I-frame are described and evaluated in detail.
