Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) More and more MPEG-2 video streams are transmitted through networks such as the Internet and LANs these days. The transcoder is now in great demand, which transforms an MPEG-2 stream into another lower bit-rate stream, depending on the network capacity or a user's PC performance. We've developed a software transcoder, named "Trampeg", in reply to such demands in real world. In this report, the performance assessment is made by the authors in order to estimate the processing time for transcoding and to evaluate the subjective quality of its transformed videos.
