Organizing Video by Understanding Media

Abstract(in English) Video is playing a prominent role in multimedia computing. A lot of methods for handling the video data have been developed so far. To facilitate the handling, it is of great importance to realize its content based processing by making use of media undertanding methodologies. This report first presents the definition and characteristics of video, then reviews the state of the art of video processing such as segmentation, indexing, parsing, content analysis, and abstraction of video, and finally points out that col laborative processing of multimodal streams consisting of visual, auditory, linguistic, and graphic streams becomes a promising strategy.
