Abstract(in English) This paper describes a Japanese-Sign-Language (JSL)database system to store and retrieve the JSL word. The people with hearing-impairment performs JSL words, and synchronized four sets of video camera records their movements from four orientations. The video picture of each word is digitized and stored in this database with the different spatial resolution and formats. Therefore, this database has feasibility to provide the suitable formatted video pictures according to the network speed. This database has collected and stored over 4000 JSL words. It not only provides the MPEG1-formated video picture via World-Wide-Web, but also provides the very high resolution (720_x480)video picture to satisfy the need of image analysis in the local area network.
