Abstract(in English) | Data compression of coordinate values representing 3D object surface which are fundamental data on Computer Graphics is studied. Object surface can be represented as two-dimensional array r(m, n) of distance sampled at same intervals along θ, z directions on cylindrical coordinates (r, θ, z). The support of distance r(m, n) is shaped arbitrarily and has some holes depending on the object. We propose a data compression method of distance data applied SA-WT (Shape Adaptive-Wavelet Transform), and show the new method improve the compression performance by computer simulation. |
