Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In high speed networks, the software-routing of IP datagrams on routers causes an increase of datagram transfer delay as incoming traffic is ralatively large. This would be relaxed by the layer3 switching mechanism in which the layer3 router is combined with the layer2 switch. A forwarding path of each datagram is assigned to individual path on the layer2 switch by using routing infomation of datagrams in order to do hardware-forwarding them on layer2. This mechanism is often called "cut-thorugh". However, performance of layer3 swtching mechanism is not quantitatively evaluated very well, for example, in terms of how the limitation of the number of paths on layer2 affects the cut-through rate and the datagram transfer delay. In this paper, we evaluate the performance by means of trace-draiven simulation. Cut-through can cause so called "mis-order" of datagram and we also investigate impacts of some parameters of the layer3 switch on the mis-ordered rate.
