Motion Detection for Inrteractive Model-based Coding

Abstract(in English) This paper presents a new method to analyze motion parameters for an interactive model-based coding of face images in the application of storage media, multimedia e-mail and WWW. In such applications, it is not necessary to encode input sequences in realtime. This will allows the introduction of interactive operations in the model-based coding. It will solve image recognition problems in model-based coding. It will enhance the performance of model-based coding with giving new signal processing, such as the treatment of eyeglass frame and beards. It will also provide a new signal processing to combine editing or creating face features and coding of face images. Under the above concept of interactive model-based coding, a new motion estimation algorithm was developed using feature points, which an operator indicates interactively. Based on this algorithm, two practical approximation methods are compared with each other. Moreover, input noise induced through mouse interface was analyzed. A distance-preserving filter was used to reduce the input noise. Motion parameters were detected using this algorithm for face image sequences. The wireframe of the first picture of the motion sequence was transformed and shifted according to the rotation and translate parameters. The resulted wireframes coincide with the original face images with smooth and natural motion.
