Interactive System for 3D Visualization and Analysis of Blood Vessels Cone-Beam CT Images

Abstract(in English) This paper presents an interactive system for 3D visualization and quantitative analysis of blood vessels from high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) blood vessels images obtained by cone-beam CT. The following analysis functions are implemented : (a) 3D visualization of exterior structure and interior morphology of the blood vessels, (b) extraction of the orientation of the blood vessels, (c) measurement of the cross-sectional area, (d) evaluation of the the distance between two points along a 3D blood vessel path, (e) evaluation of the volume of a vascular disease, (f) measurement of the surface shapes of the blood vessels. These analysis functions are interactively manipulated with observing the 3D blood vessels image from arbitrary views. From results of the application to patient's blood vessels, we show the feasibility of the processing algorithms.
