Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The automatic extraction of facial information is required to modify the wireframe model in model based image coding. This paper proposes a method to identify the positions of facial components such as face, eyes and mouth and to extract contours of them. The method consists of two parts: One part is the top-down search algorithm using color information to detect positions of facial components from the Original face image. The other is the Contour extraction of detected Components using SNAKE model. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method is effective and encouraging toward the reliable extraction of facial components.
