Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigates a video multicast method utilizing RSVP (a resource reservation protocol for the Internet). In this method, a layered transmission of video data is necessary since the reserved bandwidth for the multicast differs according to the network domain. This study makes use of frame data partitioning based on an MPEG-1 I, P, B structure and DCT coefficient partitioning based on their frequencies. We propose here a combined method with the goal of reducing decoding delays. A computer simulation was performed to evaluate these delays along with picture quality and results of the simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
