Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Infomation content of images is very large. A progressive coding is one of countermeasures to represent image. In some applications such as remort-sensing, we need infomation about the shape or size of an object specially in all infomation of images. For such a purpose, we can pick out only infomation of shape and encode it. At present, a new international video coding standard, MPEG4, is under consideration, shape coding is proposed as a technology for realization this function. This paper proposes a novel progressive coding scheme specialized for properties of a shape. And considered the performance according to different number of layers for encoding. This proposed coding can be extended to the case of 3D objects.
