Lossless gray-level image coding using the binary arithmetic coder

Abstract(in English) In the JPEG lossless mode, the prediction error is entropy-encoded by either Huffman coder or binary arithmetic coder so-called QM-Coder. In the case where the latter is employed, the prediction error is converted into binary string. The binary representation and Markov model conditioning are implemented referring the statistical model. In this paper, we propose two sorts of spatial models by considering a prediction error distribution. The simulation results show that both proposed models provide better compression performance than that of JPEG.
