Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to realize stable high throughput in a high-speed long distance communication environment such as ATM, we propose a new congestion control mechanism for transport layer protocol and present experimental results of this mechanism. Based on the explicit load notification from the intermediate node, i.e., router, end system selects sending mode appropriately, in case of light load sending aggressively, i.e., quick start, and in case of heavy load sending carefully, i.e., slow start, for avoiding congestion. The experimental results indicate that stable high performance is attainable, where average throughput is improved and throughput deviation is less than the conventional method (slow start and congestion avoidance).
