| Abstract(in English) | The possibility of many infringements of copyright for materials on the Internet appears to have become an issue because it is easy to manipulate electronic publications which are accessible to the public on the Internet. In addition, it has been pointed out that many internet users may not yet have a clear awareness of copyrights. However, no data concerning the exact extent of awareness concerning copyrights for materials on Internet has been published. For this study. we collected copyright notices from homepages in the 8736 domains registered with JPNIC (Japan Network Information Center) on 25th October 1996 and then among the authors of copyrighted materials we examined the extent of their awareness of their rights in numerical terms. The results are follows, (1)Home Pages on which there are notices about copyrights account for 36.6% in all (2)Home Pages that mention on individual copyright account to 5.4% (3)Home Pages that describe in detail how the copyrighted materials are to be used are 1.9% |
