Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Edge detections often assumes that the edge corresponds to a set of zero-crossing point of ▽G^*I. However, this study assumes that a negative peak position near the zero-crossing point consists of the edge. Under the new assumption we propose a method of the edge detection for line figures. The new method has two phases, a clustering and an algorithm for finding each peak position in all clusters which are generated in the first phase. For all off-center cells, the first phase provides each cluster with the same size as that of the excitement part of the off-center cell. In the second phase, we find the negative peak in each cluster by the gradient method. The two-phased method is regarded as an information processing model in a retina. By applying the model to some illusions about the length including Muller-Lyer illusion, we illustrate the validity of the model.
