A Color and Texture fusion Technique for Classification of High Resolution Satellite Images

Abstract(in English) In 1999,a high-resolution satellite (IKONOS) was successfully launched. By using the high-resolution satellite, we can obtain not only the spectral (color) information, but also the informations about texture and shape. In this paper, we propose a color and texture fusion technique based on a neural network for classification of high-resolution satellite images. Conventional R, G, and B are used as color features and a PCA-based template matching technique is proposed for texture feature extractions. The proposed method is easy for computation and free from the illumination. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method has a better classification ability than the conventional method with uses only color features.
