Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present the result of an experiment to investigate effects of face orientation on impressions conveyed by gaze. In the experiment, we set two conditions of face orientation : (1) directing face to gaze direction, (2) averting face while directing gaze toward the partner. The result indicated that impressions conveyed by the face orientations under the condition (1) did not differ from the ones under the condition of fixing face toward the partner. It is also shown that lower "friendliness" and higher "dominance" impressions are conveyed under the condition (2) which corresponds to special gaze patterns like a side glance.
