Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To improve the accuracy of region extraction with active contour model(ACM), several methods have been proposed for using a priori knowledge about the shape of a target region. However, existing methods require training with samples of a target region or indicating the prototype of a target region, and these requirements cause a limitation on target regions and an increase of tiresome preparation. To deal with these problems, in this article, we take notice that an initial contour of ACM can include the shape information of a target region, and we propose a novel method for introducing a priori knowledge about the shape of a target region into the control of ACM. In the proposed method, by making the most of the shape information obtained from an initial contour, a priori knowledge is prepared from this shape information, and it is effectively introduced into the control of ACM.
