| Abstract(in English) | Using male face photographs and name cards, the present study investigated the influence of their impressions on the memorability of them presented in pairs. The impression ratings were analyzed with the semantic differential method and the three factors ('activeness', 'potency', and 'gracefulness') were extracted. Then, other participants joined in the recognition test. In this experiment, participants remembered faces from name cards. The target pairs were chosen based on the combinations of their properties on the three factors. The pairs of high activeness produced high recognition performance, while the low activeness pairs did not. Such a tendency was not found on the pairs chosen based on the gracefulness factor. The pairs of high gracefulness showed the worst recognition performance. It was revealed that the gracefulness factor largely affected the memorability of the pairs, while the contribution ratio of gracefulness was small in the factor analysis of rated impressions. |
