Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we have investigated how the roughness sensation depends on the tempereture stimulation to the fingertip surface in order to design a tactile quality display. From the first experimental results, the roughhness sensation decreased when the temperature of fingertip decreased. It was hypothesized that the reason of the roughness sensation decrease is due to the threshold of the touch sensation increases. By using a pin matrix stimulator, we designed a new tactile display method which may produce any roughness sensation by cotrolling the skin surface temperature.
