Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The aim of our study is to make current GUIs more effective for computer users. This paper proposes an eye gaze interface in which computer users use both their eye and hand in doing GUI operations. We have chosen "drag-and-drop" operation, which is one of a daily-use operation, for this study. In our method, drag-and-drop operation is separated into three basic operations:(1) rough cursor movement toward the icon, (2) cursor adjustment onto the icon, and (3) pushing the icon. We use eye movement for (1), and, a mouse for (2) and (3). We also propose three adjustment method for (2):Auto, Manual, and SemiAuto. The result of an experiment to evaluate our method showed that the proposed interface augmented by SemiAuto adjustment is more effective than the conventional mouse interface.
