Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We asked housewives who were actively using the Intemet about their uses of e-mail and their human relationship around them and compared with other ordinary housewives. We used questionnaire survey and telephone interviews to collect quantitative and qualitative data. The results indicate that most of them experienced the addictive period in the early stage of their Intemet use, that is, they used most of their time engaging the Intemet activities, which sometimes put them into troubles. Then they managed to live with the Internet by (1) customizing the media so that they can cope with them, (2) avoiding personal risks that would happen to them in their Intemet activities, and (3) consideration of their husbands.
