Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we first show a quantitative model for polychromatic perception phenomena, which is consisted of a bundle of color spaces, each for a particular pixel in the image. The intrinsic geometry of the color space for a pixel as a Riemannian space is deformed by its interaction with all its surrounding colors. Then the polychromatic perception of a color image can be characterized by the local and global geometry of their color-space-bundle model. The local geometric feature, specifically the Riemannian metric tensors can be determined from the "complementary-color inhibition" neural network in opponent color space. In this way, we obtain a scenario to construct the uniform color space in polychromatic perception and propose a new algorithm for optimal bit assignment in color image coding.
