Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses about the effects of map deformation on the ease of understanding. In the experiment, ten advertising maps were presented to ten subjects. The partial correlation among the ease of understanding, the ease of seeing and the deformation indices was significant. The results showed that the number of landmarks in the map was increased, ease of understanding did not change much even if the map was deformed. Finally, the guidelines on map deformation were proposed based on the analysis. In the second experiment, five advertising maps that was revised by the guidlines were used in the same experiment to evaluate the guidelines and the result confirmed the validity of the guidelines.
