Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | When stimulus person's head is rotated, gaze perception becomes inaccurate and is shifted in the direction opposite to head turn(head-turn effect). We examined the relationship between this effect and under-estimation of head turns. We first measured the accuracy of gaze-direction perception with several head-turn angles, and confirmed a clear head-turn effect.Next, we examined the accuracy of head-turn itself, and found that it is generally underestimated. We then examined gaze perception with synthesized images in which underestimation of head turns was compensated, and found that the error was dramatically reduced for these pictures. These results demonstrate underestimation of head turn is an important factor for the error in gaze perception. |
