Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a auditory user interface environment "Interactive Auditory Field (IAF)". In IAF, the user can select an appropriate icon using cocktail party effect. We made a system on SparcStation 20 and made a icon selecting experiment. As a result, we found that users could select icons with a shorter path under auditory feedback condition than under nonauditory feedback condition. We also found that users could distinguish the different type of each auditory icons. However users could not distinguish the same type of auditory icons, which have different frequencies.
