Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report discusses an object tracking system using focus of attention. By setting a viewpoint close to a target object, and choosing a breadth of visual field to certain area, complexity of tracking task can be reduced, and robustness of tracking may increased. In our approach, visual field is chosen to be the optimal while tracking. The size and the position of the object is estimated using model of image including the target and noise, and observation of image accompanied by focus of attention is expressed by inner product between image and a set of functions consisting of Gaussian function and its partial derivatives. Optimality of visual field is evaluated by error variance of estimated object position, based on minimum-variance estimate. A tracking example by real scene is also reported.
