Face Recognition Using Distributed and Cooperative Agent System

Abstract(in English) We propose a method to recognize a face and to extract facial features from sequential color images under the pratical condition for the human interface and robot vision. Up to now, several methods have been proposed in the facial recognition. The proposal system introduces plural methods as multi-agents to improve the robustness and flexibility. The system consists of four parts: Image Processing part, Facial Feature Extracting part, Checking part and Decision Making part each of which works independently. In recognizing facial features, it always has a problem of changing of conditions among images. In this system, the plural feature detection algorithm are run parallel and the most reliable interpretation is obtained considering the consistency of the results. The system includes a manupulator to move a camera and can track the face using the facial recognition results.
