Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For six basic categories of emotion, we examined whether observers showed the facial expressions congruent with those presented in a video monitor, making 62 people judge the average faces of these observers. The congruent facial expressions tended to be evoked for happiness and surprise, but not for anger, disgust, fear, and sadness. We checked up on every face constructing the average faces of latter four categories. The cluster analysis revealed that the average faces judged as uncongruent were based on different kinds of facial expressions.
