Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to develop facial analyzing system for Chinese, it is necessary to obtain enough samples of basic facial expressions which consist of the same actions of face, head, and eyes as are described in FAST. We succeeded in taking mostly perfect video-samples of facial expression for twelve young Chinese actors and actresses (5 males and 7 females) in Beijing in August, 2001. Under systematic instruction (the Action Unit Instruction) where the instructor explained each facial action showing his facial expressions, almost of all the subjects could express exactly the nine basic facial expressions of emotion (14 patterns). Moreover, six of them could elaborate clearly all the single Action Units included in FACS.
