Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The present study examined what makes the children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder(PDD) worse to recognize other person' emotion by face. PDD and non-PDD children were shown the virtual realistic average faces in the normal up-right orientation condition and the inverted one, and asked to judge the percieved emotions in either orientations. If PDD children could use the whole processing when observed the up-right faces as well as non-PDD children and also we could do, the well-known inversion effect should be expected to occur. However, the result revealed that PDD children show little inversion effect, indicating that they use the partial processing even when observing the up-right faces. We discussed the impairment of the central coherence for integrating the piece-wise information as a whole.
