Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper addresses the effect of signing rate on the structure of signed language sentences in JSL (Japanese Sign Language). We first analyse ratios of change for lexical (transitional) durations with normal and fast signing rates. The result of our analysis shows that there exists a significant difference in ratios in lexical and transitional durations for the change of signing rate. Analysis also shows the significant difference in duration between transition and pause for each signing rate. These results are useful both in computer animation generation of signed language sentences, and in machine recognition of the sentences.
