Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Mabuchi et al(1999, 2000)showed that the distribution of the N170 ERP was affected by the face pointing direction of the stimulus. However, in her stimulus, the face orientation was confounded with the visual field where the parts of the face(e.g., eyes, nose, mouth)were presented. The effects of face orientation and the visual field on the N170 were examined in this experiment. The results showed that the face orientation had effects on the N170, even when the visual field was controlled, indicating the dominant processing for the left oriented face than the right face.
