Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Signed language is used as means of communication for deaf people in daily life. A signed language has different modalities compared with usual spoken language ; They produce language with manual and non-manual behaviours, and perceive it through visual channel. We videotape signing expressions by a deaf signer and analyse them from the view point of assimilation. Results for analysis show similar characteristics as that was reported in the previous study with a hearing signed language interpreter. These results are useful in developing machine processing techniques for a signed language ; generating signing motion pictures, and recognising and translating it into spoken language.
