Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wada & Maiya (1999) suggested the similarity in facial expression among three emotions ; contempt, disgust and anger. The present study aimed at examining the differences among the three facial expressions by using Keltner (1995)'s methods of analysis of facial expressions. The results indicated the significant difference in frequency of AU61 (gaze left), although combinations of AU's were the same. It was indicated that contempt tends to be longer than anger in latency of AU7 (Lid tighter) as well as duration of AU25 (Lips part). A tentative mapping of their prototypes suggested the difference in time sequence of occurrences of each Action Unit.
