A Computer Manipulation Tool Using Head Swing Operation for the Handicapped

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a computer manipulation tool for handicapped who cannot use a mouse. This tool displays control panels on the computer monitor, and indirectly issues mouse function call such as motion of mouse pointer or clicking mouse buttons to any application software without any reconstruction. This tool enables a person to operate general application software using head swing operation based on our previously proposed object-tracking method. In addition, control panels are full adjustable of its size according to person's physical ability. Experimental results show the effectiveness of this tool that can control mouse function comparably with ordinarily mouse.
