Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes improved methods of the Image Input Microphone proposed by the authors' group on vocalic comprehension rates and unvoiced consonants performance. First, various learning data sets for the estimating system are examined to improve the vocalic comprehension rates. Next, an extended system applicable to unvoiced consonants is proposed. The proposed system estimates the consonants' periods from features of oral images, and synthesizes consonants by excitation using an appropriate source for consonants while these periods; this system uses users' knowledge of the language to compensate ambiguity of words that include unvoiced consonants. Finally, it is shown that the proposed system improves the comprehension rates by experiments of place-names that include unvoiced consonants.
