Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Humans often conceal their emotion by exhibiting different facial expression than what they actually feel. This incongruent behavior can sometimes be useful in avoiding social conflict with others. Recent development in image processing technologies and facial expression studies provide us with a possibility to generate CG synthesized faces exhibiting various emotion. In this study, we examined the effect of synthesized emotional facial expressions on human social attitudes. Our experimental result indicated that people tend to respond negatively when a CG synthesized face interviewer expresses a positive expression when they expect a positive feedback, whereas, conversely, people tend to respond positively when the interviewer expresses a positive expression when they expect a negative feedback.
