Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The present study was to investigate whether the McGurk-like effect is also evident in situations in which 1) the face and voice personality characteristic attributes are congruent, 2) the face and voice personality characteristic attributes are incongruent. In Study phase, personality characteristic factors extracted from the stimulus faces and stimulus voices were investigated. In Experimental phase, comparisons were made between the impressions formed from the single channels (face or voice) and the impressions formed from the multichannel inputs(simultaneous face and voice). Results indicated that voice channel predominated in impression formation when the face / voice stimuli were incongruent. The claims that face is most important than verbal-auditorial channel has not been supported.
