| 抄録(英) | This study concerned saliency or relative importance of facial parts in the judgment of facial expressions. In Experiment 1 subjects rated intact and part-deleted faces and isolated facial parts on each scale of anger, happiness, sadness and neural. Results of multiple regression analyses showed that the nose, eyes, eyebrows and mouth were correlated with angry, happy, sad and neutral expressions, respectively. Subjects in Experiment 2 rated both intact and part-exchanged faces on the same four scales. Results of χ^2 tests indicated that the eyes of happy faces, when exchanged with the eyes of angry, neutral and sad faces, effectively made those faces appear more like happy faces. The nose of angry faces had similar influence, though to a lesser extent, on the judgments of happy, neutral and sad faces. The mouth of neutral faces was effective only for expressions of modest degree, whereas the eyebrows of sad faces had little impact on facial-expression judgment. |
